Whenever I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to attend the SHE SPEAKS conference, well knowing that I have been talking for decades, he responded, "Don't you mean the They Will Finally Listen Conference?" He may have been joking but he knows when I am passionate about something I can be relentless.
I had wanted to attend this conference for the past few years but something needing the money more was always on my heart. Two years ago it helped fund two colleagues who had always wanted to go on a mission trip. Last year it allowed me to return to my roots to see the people and places that made me who I am for a week. This year there is siding that needs replaced, a septic tank that needs pumped and I need to complete my CEU's to maintain my license for my "real job" which helps pay off the college tuition bills of my children.
I have been writing several blogs with passionate messages, but writing will only go so far. My message needs to reach people on a more personal level connecting from around the kitchen table to large conference venues.I am passionate about people sharing their stories and especially about two issues that daily move me to pray and become more involved. I want to direct more attention to the truly poorest places in America, like Appalachia and to raise awareness about human trafficking, an unspeakable and nearly as unbelievable crime right in our own backyards.
I have been meeting around the kitchen tables for awhile now but I know attending the SHE SPEAKS conference will help develop my skills for taking my mission further. I hope and pray God allows me to receive a scholarship because the siding problems, septic tank and tuition payments are not going away and neither am I. I believe in the words of 1 Corinthians 1:5..."For in God you have been enriched in every way...in all your speaking and in all your knowledge.

Every woman deserves to be seen and HEARD because everyone has a story and some simply must be told. I hope I can share mine with the ladies of Proverbs 31 at the SHE SPEAKS conference!
